Happy Hanukkah!

The sweet sights and tastes of Hanukkah, the eight-day Festival of Light – a pitcher of honey; a gift, a dreidel; a sufganiyot, (a cross between a beignet and a jelly doughnut); the menorah; and chocolate coins.

Hanukkah – commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem and the subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the second century BCE – starts at sundown tonight, Thursday, Dec. 7, and lasts until sundown Dec. 15. Like the Hindu festival of Diwali, which was celebrated in November, and the feast of Christmas (Dec. 25), Hanukkah is a time of light and festive foods, songs and gifts.

However and wherever you celebrate, we at Westfair wish you a happy, healthy, safe Hanukkah.
