With “The Crown” reaching its culmination and their Christmas card posting, William and Catherine, Prince and Princess of Wales, have seen their Instagram increase by 90,899 followers. Their “Crown” counterparts – Meg Bellamy and Ed McVey – have seen their daily followers boosted 674% and 1,303% respectively.

Experts at NoDeposit.guide used Social Blade to analyze the Instagram following of the Prince and Princess of Wales. The royal couple’s largest gain was34,084the day after the Christmas card post, resulting in a1263% daily follower hike. (Whereas Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have seen their now mostly inactive Instagram account decline in followers this month, losing 23,370 over the past 30 days.)

The depiction of the Waleses’ blossoming romance in the sixth and final season of  “The Crown” has also caused their lookalike interpreters to see a huge rise in followers. The two days following the release of “The Crown’s” finale, Bellamy received 3,492followers and McVey gained 6,090 followers. The actor playing Prince Harry, Luther Ford, has also faired better than his real-life counterpart, seeing a 1,288-follower increase after “The Crown”finale release. Of the three young stars, McVey is proving the most popular, with his daily follower count growing almost double that of Bellamy and Ford.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson fromNoDeposit.guidesaid:

“It’s a sign of the actors’ talent and the world’s love for the Prince and Princess of Wales that their social media accounts have seen a substantial rise in followers. The reenacting of their relationship on ‘The Crown’ can only endear you to the pair further and the result of their romance, photographed beautifully for their annual Christmas card, has clearly captured the hearts of many.”

Meanwhile, the prince’s mother, Princess Diana, remains a perennial trendsetter. Recently, a long-waisted, ballerina-length black and blue dress that the princess wore on two occasions sold for almost $1.15 million at Julien’s Auctions – a record for one of her dresses. (The 1985 cocktail dress, evoking the night sky, was the work of Jacques Azagury, a Moroccan-British designer.)

Interest in yachts has also swelled, with “The Crown’s” depiction of Diana’s romance with Dodi Al Fayed aboard his father Mohamed Al Fayed’s yacht, the Jonkikal. Google searches for “Diana’s yacht” are up by 1,469%, according to boat insurance company InsureMY – although she did not own the yacht. Their time off the coast of sun-dappled, pastel Portofino, Italy, has made the vacation hotspot – and subject of PBS’ 1920s-set romantic drama “Hotel Portofino” – one of the most Instagram-worthy locations.
