Connecticut and New York among the most romantic states in the U.S.

The Nutmeg and Empire states are already champing at the bit for Valentine’s Day, according to a new survey.

As the two-week countdown to Valentine’s Day begins – and really, two weeks may not be enough for all the Valentine’s Day promotions — JeffBet has foraged for the most romantic states in the United States, with the East Coast in general – and Connecticut and New York in particular – in the top 10.

The betting site analyzed the number of average monthly Google searches for keywords relating to romance, Valentine’s Day (Wednesday, Feb. 14) and love across the country. The states with the highest monthly search volumes per 100,000 people for these specific keywords were identified and ranked, revealing the most romantic states in the U.S.

Connecticut takes the ninth spot, with 1,527 average monthly Google searches for every 100,000 residents. For Connecticut, this includes 545 searches for “Valentine’s Day,” 248 searches for “engagement rings” and 54 searches for “romantic restaurants.”

Completing the list of the most romantic states – and the only one in the top 10 not on the East Coast – is Colorado, with 1,513 monthly searches on average per 100,000 citizens. Included in these Google searches are the terms “Valentine’s Day” with 603 searches, “florists” with 143 searches and “romantic movies” with 43 searches.

A spokesperson from JeffBet said of the findings: “As Valentine’s Day is drawing closer, it is interesting to discover the states that are deemed the most romantic. With each state’s most frequently searched term being the upcoming special day, it’s clear that people are excited to celebrate their love. Not to mention, with there being high Google searches for “engagement rings” in many of the ranking states, perhaps loved ones are preparing to propose in the run-up to Valentine’s Day, or even on the day itself.”

For sure, as Valentine’s Day is the fourth most popular day – after Christmas, Jan. 1 and Dec. 26 – for engagements.
