Celebrating Irish cinema in the Hudson Valley 

KinoSaito in Verplanck is hosting an Irish film series featuring “My Left Foot,””¯directed by Jim Sheridan,”¯Â©”¯1989; “Waking Ned Devine,””¯directed by Kirk Jones, ©”¯1998; and “Sing Street,” directed by John Carney, ©”¯2016.

With Irish movies “The Quiet Girl,” “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “Aftersun” earning a total of 14 nominations for the 2023 Oscars ”“ airing Sunday, March 12, at 8 p.m. on ABC ”“ and St. Patrick”™s Day around the corner (Friday, March 17), it”™s a fine time for KinoSaito’s”¯“Spring 2023 Irish Film Series” on Fridays at 6 p.m. The free program, which takes place at KinoSaito”™s historic St. Patrick”™s School building in Verplanck, will focus on three award-winning films –“My Left Foot” (March 10),”¯“Waking Ned Devine””¯(April 14)”¯and”¯“Sing Street””¯(May 5).”¯ 

Each film will be introduced by experts in Irish culture, who will also lead the post-screening discussions. Irish snacks and drinks will also be served.
