‘Barbie’ improves view of women in the workplace

“Barbie” — a movie that has triggered discussions on feminism and patriarchy and, more broadly, what it means to be a human being ”“ is on track to become the highest grossing film in the U.S. this year, having crossed the $1.2 billion mark. 

To learn more about how “Barbie” has affected viewers’ opinions about gender issues in the workplace,”¯ResumeBuilder.com”¯conducted an August survey of 300 Americans who have seen the film.”¯ 

Among the key findings: 

  • 53% of viewers said “Barbie” improved their opinion of women in the workplace; 
  • 74% of conservative men say “Barbie” improved their view of women in leadership positions; 
  • The percentage of people who think women make the best leaders jumped from 20% before watching the film to 29% afterward; 
  • Two in three said the movie made them more aware of patriarchy in the workplace; 
  • 62% said the film led to self-reflection.”¯
