A Mother’s Day with added meaning

It”™s crunch time for Mother”™s Day gifts as moms get set for their special day on Sunday, May 14.

You can make brunch reservations at any of Jean-Georges Vongerichten”™s restaurants, including The Inn at Pound Ridge and Happy Monkey in Greenwich.  And you”™ll find plenty of offerings at Bloomingdale”™s White Plains, including in its new Chloé fragrance pop-up shop.

But you can also give mom a gift that keeps on giving. Through her business Alexandra Rose Day: Flowers for Change, political artist Alex Rudin, a Rye and New York City resident, sells handmade botanical prints, with 20% of the proceeds going to Moms Demand Action to combat gun violence

Meanwhile, the American Heart Association has a Mother”™s Day matching gift program, courtesy of Val Shapiro in memory of her mother, Rachel Besser, to fight heart disease, the number one killer of women.

“My mom was my best friend,” Shapiro said in her appeal. “And when I learned heart disease could take her from me, I was devastated. Thanks to lifesaving research funded by the American Heart Association, my mom got an extra 20 years to enjoy her family”™s marriages, graduations and more. This time was priceless, and I’m so deeply”¯grateful.”

To all mothers and mother figures ”“ and in memory of those who have gone before us ”“ we at Westfair say, “Happy Mother”™s Day.”
