City and Empire City Casino co-host first Yonkers tourism expo

The city of Yonkers and Empire City Casino will trumpet the city”™s attractions to tourist industry professionals and tristate residents when they host the inaugural Yonkers Tourism Alliance Expo from noon to 6 pm. Wednesday at Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway.

The event will be in the third-floor Good Time Room of the casino at 810 Yonkers Ave.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano in a press release called the expo “a great way for Yonkers to share its story with the metropolitan area”™s tourism industry. Yonkers is quickly becoming a regional destination and this expo will help us attract visitors and perhaps future residents to Yonkers to enjoy all that we have to offer.”

The Yonkers Tourism Alliance was formed by Spano and the city Planning Department to connect Yonkers business owners with entertainment, retail and hospitality industry leaders from the surrounding area and to foster growth through local businesses while strengthening the city as a regional destination.

Empire City Casino spokeswoman Taryn Duffy said the casino attracts more than 8 million visitors annually from the tristate area. The tourism expo “is an opportunity to not only introduce new people to Empire City but also highlight all of our tourism partners here in the city of Yonkers.”
