The complete ‘Ozzie and Harriet’ series to be offered in 50-disc set
One of the longest-running and most beloved comedy series in the history of American television is being presented in a 50-disc DVD set that encompasses its entire run.
MPI Media Group is releasing “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet: The Official Restored Complete Series” on Dec. 19. The series ran for a record-breaking 14 seasons and 435 episodes on ABC from 1952 through 1966, and at one point it was the longest-running live-action American television sitcom.
The series offers a reel-life view of the Nelson family: Ozzie and wife Harriet with their sons David and Rick, all portraying themselves in a trend-setting blend of fact-meets-fiction comedy long before Jerry Seinfeld, Garry Shandling and others created semi-reality shows. During its run, David and Rick grew up before TV viewers, with David enjoying his own career as a dramatic actor and Rick becoming one of the most popular singers of his generation.
This new set includes the show’s rarely revived final season, which was shot in color, along with a multitude of bonus features including promotional spots and Nelson family home movies. “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet: The Official Restored Complete Series” will be available at a suggested retail price of $259.98.
