Ridgefield’s ACT Theater adds Menken, Mendez to advisory board

ACT (A Contemporary Theater) of Connecticut in Ridgefield has added Academy Award-winning Broadway and film composer Alan Menken and Tony Award-winning actor Lindsay Mendez to its Artistic Advisory Board.

Menken has won eight Oscars, more than any other living individual; 11 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for “A Whole New World”; and seven Golden Globes. In addition to such Disney films as “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and “Beauty and the Beast,” his credits include onstage musicals “Newsies,” “Little Shop of Horrors and “Sister Act.” He is currently working with Lin-Manuel Miranda on the new live action version of “The Little Mermaid.”

Mendez won a 2018 Tony for the recent Broadway revival of “Carousel,” and has appeared in onstage musicals “Wicked,” “Godspell” and “Grease.”

Other members of ACT of CT”™s Artistic Advisory Board include Stephen Schwartz, Susan Batten, Christian Borle, Al Blackstone, and Caite Hevner.
