Museum of Broadway celebrates ‘Chicago’ in new exhibit

The Museum of Broadway is now presenting a special exhibit dedicated to “Chicago,” Broadway’s longest currently running American musical.

“Chicago” has played over 10,000 performances since its reopening in November 1996 ”“ the show first opened in 1975 and ran 936 performances through August 1977. To date, “Chicago” has played in 38 countries in more than 525 cities and has been performed in 13 different languages worldwide; it was also adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.

“All That Jazz: The Legacy of Chicago the Musical” celebrates the production”™s 26 years on Broadway with a special focus on the iconic production photography and advertising campaigns throughout the years. The exhibit includes the costumes and props from the show along with an exclusive photo activation feature.

The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 10. The Museum of Broadway is located within the heart of New York City’s Times Square at 145 W. 45th St. and is the first permanent museum dedicated to the storied history and legendary artistry of Broadway musicals and plays.
