Coming soon: The first-ever collection of Louis Armstrong’s holiday season music
While Christmas is three months away, Verve Records/UMe is getting a very early head start on the holidays with the announcement of “Louis Wishes You A Cool Yule,” the first album that collects all of Louis Armstrong”™s holiday season music into a single anthology.
The new 11-track album contains the entirety of Armstrong”™s holiday output: six Decca singles from the ’50s, including “Cool Yule,” “Christmas Night in Harlem,” and the swinging “‘Zat You Santa Claus?” Also featured are duets Ella Fitzgerald (“I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm”) and Velma Middleton (“Baby, It’s Cold Outside”), a previously unreleased reading of Samuel Clement Moore’s poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (popularly known as “The Night Before Christmas”) and Armstrong’s signature hit, “What a Wonderful World,” which celebrates its 65th anniversary this year.
The new album is available for pre-order now for an Oct. 28 release and it will be made available on red vinyl, a limited edition vinyl picture disc (releasing Nov. 4), CD and digital.
