Town of Westport to sponsor electric car demonstration

The town of Westport is sponsoring an electric vehicle (EV) demonstration Nov. 17 as it prepares to open a new solar transportation hub at the Westport Metro-North Railroad station next month.

As part of Saturday’s demonstration, local auto dealerships Scap Auto Group, of Fairfield, Nissan Darien, Fisker of Greenwich and Karl Chevrolet of New Canaan will showcase various electric car models at the Westport train station, also known as the Saugatuck train station, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Through the demonstration, town officials are hoping to promote the solar hub, which will feature up to 20 trackside electric vehicle parking spaces that feature charging stations.
