Revolution Wind receives final federal approval for offshore construction

Revolution Wind, the offshore wind project developed by Eversource (NYSE:ES) and Ørsted, received approval for its Construction and Operations Plan (COP) from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), marking the final federal approval required ahead of the launch of offshore construction.

Revolution Wind will deliver 304 megawatts of offshore wind power to Connecticut and 400 megawatts to Rhode Island. The project’s onshore construction activities are already well underway, with offshore construction slated to begin in 2024 – the wind farm is expected to be operational in 2025.

“We’re grateful to receive from BOEM the final approval for Revolution Wind, a project that will transform Connecticut and Rhode Island’s energy system,” said Joe Nolan, chairman, president and CEO of Eversource Energy. “Our team is already working hard on the onshore transmission system for this critical clean energy project, which will produce enough renewable energy to power more than 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and for our customers in Connecticut.”
