Energy industry represented at WCC open house
Three employers in the energy industry will meet with students exploring careers in engineering and technology at an open house Wednesday at Westchester Community College in Valhalla.
College officials said two information sessions, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Technology Building student lounge, are geared for students interested in high-demand careers in engineering science and technology, environmental studies or environmental science. Representatives from Consolidated Edison Inc., the New York Power Authority and Solar City Corp., an alternative energy company based in Elmsford, will be joined by faculty members from WCC”™s “Bright Futures” program, which helps students develop career-ready skills needed for entry-level jobs.
A Westchester Community College spokesman said classes for the fall cohort of Bright Futures students begin Sept. 2. The college has expanded its Bright Futures offerings to include civil technology, electrical technology, energy systems, engineering science, environmental science, environmental studies and mechanical technology.
