Conn. lures another West Coast co.

In another unusual instance of a cross-country relocation, an Oregon software company called Emme is moving its headquarters to Bristol, after landing $3 million in funding from Connecticut Innovations and a pair of venture capital companies.

Beaverton, Ore.-based Emme sells a “room-by-room” energy management system that allows building owners to better monitor their energy use, on the theory each room has its own heating and cooling profile. The company says its system can cut heating and cooling bills as much as 40 percent.

CEO Jon Brodeur is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and previously worked for Shelton-based Emhart Teknologies, now owned by Stanley Black & Decker.

Emme investors include Enhanced Capital, a New York City-based firm with a Stamford office, and Advantage Capital Partners, which works with Avon-based Ironwood Capital.

Earlier this year, Connecticut successfully recruited NextCloud Inc. to relocate here from Sacramento, Calif., with its CEO a Connecticut native. And two years ago, furniture retailer Design Within Reach relocated its headquarters to Stamford from San Francisco.
