CL&P, UI making headway to restore power

Utilities continued to chip away at remaining power outages due to Hurricane Sandy, with Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating Co. reporting a combined 33,500 customers still without electricity as of 10 a.m. Nov. 5.

As of this morning, CL&P indicated power has been restored to 99 percent of its customers, while UI is reporting that just over 3 percent of its 320,150 Connecticut customers are still without power.

Collectively, power has been restored to more than 1 million customers since Hurricane Sandy first struck.

CL&P estimates power should be restored to all customers by 11:30 p.m. Nov. 6, with outages currently remaining in Danbury, Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Newtown, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

UI previously estimated it would have 95 percent of its customers”™ power restored by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 5. The utility is still addressing outages in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull, among other areas.
