Fairfield County boasts 4 of Connecticut’s best high schools

The latest rankings from US World and News Report reviewed 298 high schools across the state. Of the top 10, four were located in Fairfield County.

Staples High School in Westport took ninth place, Greenwich High School came in at fifth just behind Weston High School in fourth place. Second place in the state went to Darien high school, which was only behind the Connecticut International Baccalaureate High School in East Hartford.

Rankings of schools were based on the number of students that take AP exams, the number that pass them, and the graduation rate. Aspects like the socioeconomic diversity of students, the breadth and depth of academic programs, and performance on state assessment programs.

Among the 17,660 schools ranked by US World and News Report nationwide the top 10 Connecticut schools all placed within the top 3% or better of all high schools nationwide.
