Westchester County officials are urging businesses to post job openings free of charge at the county”™s Virtual On-Line Job Fair that will run from Sept. 30 through Oct. 11 at www.westchesterputnamjobfair.com.
Companies already signed on are looking to immediately fill 212 positions, according to County Executive Robert P. Astorino. The Virtual On-Line Job Fair is designed to connect job seekers in the county to Westchester-based businesses and nonprofit organizations that are ready to hire qualified and “job ready” candidates for hundreds of available positions. The listings include jobs in sales, retail, information technology, accounting, financial services, graphic arts, custodial and more.
Positions announced Wednesday include seven truck drivers for New Jersey-based Unipark Services and 30 cable technicians with Connect One. Whole Foods is ready to hire 175 workers in their new stores, according to county officials.
Astorino said he hopes public and private sector partners will find jobs for 400 to 500 residents over the next 60 days.
“A job fair without jobs is just a fair,” said Donnovan Beckford, executive director of Westchester One-Stop Employment Center. “So we are appealing to all companies to list all of their available positions on our website. We have thousands of qualified candidates who are ready to go to work.”
