Hudson Valley economic forum to be held at SUNY New Paltz

The Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. will hold its second State of the Hudson Valley Economy forum Wednesday.

Keynote speaker Paul Harrington, director of Drexel University”™s Center for Labor Markets and Policy, will be joined in a panel discussion by Dan Freedman, dean of the School of Science and Engineering at SUNY New Paltz; Kale Kaposhilin, co-founder of Hudson Valley Tech Meetup; Paul Kassel, interim dean of SUNY New Paltz”™s School of Fine & Performing Arts; and Harold King, executive vice president of The Council of Industry. HVEDC President and CEO Laurence P. Gottlieb will moderate the discussion.

The panel will compare economic data on employment, how residents by generation are faring in the area and what careers are doing well in the Hudson Valley, especially those that pertain to the intersection of science, technology, engineering, art and math.

A survey conducted by HVEDC and the commercial real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle will also be released and provide insight to how Hudson Valley businesses perceive the regional economy.

The event will start with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and run until 11:30 a.m. at the Student Union multipurpose room at SUNY New Paltz.
