Giving Day philanthropic event kicks off in Fairfield

Fairfield County”™s Community Foundation kicked off its fourth annual Giving Day event this morning with a fundraising breakfast held at The Warehouse at Fairfield Theatre Company.

The Giving Day endeavor, which is billed as “the region”™s biggest philanthropic event,” encourages corporate and individual donations of $10 or higher that are distributed among 432 local nonprofits. Online donations are being accepted today until 11:59 p.m. Kevin Begley, DJ at Bridgeport”™s WEZN-FM, hosted the morning event, which included corporate sponsorship from Bank of America and Whole Foods Market.

Last year”™s Giving Day generated $1.24 million that was donated by more than 11,000 individuals and distributed to 410 nonprofits.
