Department of Labor unveils online system to file unemployment claims
The Connecticut Department of Labor says its new website FileCTUI.com will provide a faster way to file an initial unemployment insurance claim or reopen an existing claim.
According to State Labor Commissioner Scott D. Jackson, “With this newest improvement at the agency, individuals can avoid waiting on the phone when applying for unemployment benefits, especially during our peak volume periods. Anyone with an email address can file a new claim or re-open an existing claim by using a computer instead of the phone.”
Jackson added that, with fewer calls, the department”™s customer service representatives will have more time to help those with more complicated claims or concerns.
The site is available in English and Spanish, and can be accessed by computer, tablet or smartphone.
The state DOL is part of a consortium of agencies in several states that are working jointly to develop new technologies to modernize their claims-taking systems and improve how this interfaces with other programs, such as employment and web services.
