Connecticut added 5,600 jobs in February
Connecticut jobs gained 5,600 in February, a 0.3% uptick to 1.68 million, while the state’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4%, according to new data from the Connecticut Department of Labor, which also revised the January job gain up by 100 to 8,800 (0.5%).
Connecticut’s private sector employment increased by 6,100 (0.4%) positions in February to 1.45 million, and sector is now 99.3% recovered from the April 2020 Covid employment trough. The government supersector was lower by 500 jobs (-0.2%) to a level of 228,600 and is only 64.9% recovered from the April 2020 low.
Within Fairfield County, the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk region added 2,100 positions while the Greater Danbury area was unchanged from the previous month.
