Budget deficit mitigation bill released
General Assembly members  approved a mitigation bill Dec. 19 using both spending cuts and revenue adjustments for the 2013 fiscal year budget deficit.
In addition to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s $108.5 million in state agency spending cuts, state legislators approved $221.5 million in spending reductions and $30.8 million in revenue adjustments. The state Comptroller’s Office has previously estimated the deficit to be $415 million.
Details of the programs and departments cuts  have not be released as of the morning of Dec. 20. However, The Day reports the majority of the cuts were made to the Department of Social Services, as Malloy previously suggested.
