Workshop Jan. 30 for entrepreneurs over 50

For baby boomers not ready to retire, but looking for a career change, AARP is hosting a workshop Jan. 30 in Bridgeport on how to start a business.

The retirement planning and advocacy group is calling all budding entrepreneurs over 50 years old to consider starting a business over next phase of their careers.

After 50, many people no longer have children at home, have taken a retirement package or have a less traditional job, according to AARP officials, and are therefore in a position to take a risk.

The Bridgeport event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the E.  Morton Government Center and will advise attendees on what resources are available to help them start or grow a business.

The event is also held in partnership by the Connecticut Small Business Administration.

Attendees can register at aarp.cvent.com/CTSBABridgeport or by phone at 877-926-8300.
