SCORE Westchester announces spring workshops

SCORE Westchester, the White Plains-based mentoring nonprofit for small businesses, recently announced spring workshops for entrepreneurs.

This week, SCORE will provide two free workshops to help entrepreneurs learn how to find financing.

The first workshop, “Financing Your Business ”“ Different Options for Different Stages,” about traditional and nontraditional funding options, is Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Greenburgh Public Library on 300 Tarrytown Road in Elmsford. Tamara Underwood, vice president of New York Business Development Corp., which facilitates access to capital for small businesses unable to secure conventional financing, will lead the workshop.

The second workshop, “4 Ways to Improve Your Chances of Getting a Small Business Loan,”Â is Wednesday, from 1 to 3 p.m., at SCORE Westchester”™s headquarters on 120 Bloomingdale Road. Holly Perlowitz, business development manager at Community Capital, a Hawthorne-based nonprofit alternative lender to small businesses, will provide information and advice about applying for a loan.

SCORE will also host a series of five interactive workshops throughout the spring called “Basic training for startups, a proven path to business success.” The workshops are designed to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with information about how to launch their businesses.

The basic training workshop program begins on April 22 and continues on each of the four successive Wednesday evenings, concluding on May 20. The workshops run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave. The series of workshops costs $60.
