PostNet global print and shipping services expanding to Connecticut

PostNet, a global chain of more than 700 franchise locations providing business print and shipping services is moving to Stamford.

If you”™ve never heard of PostNet it”™s likely because Stamford will be the company”™s first Connecticut location and one of only a handful between New York and Boston, but the company has big plans to change that.

“Connecticut and the New England region is a big focus for us,” says Chip Baranowski, director of franchise development at PostNet.

The new Stamford franchise is scheduled to open at 680 E. Main St. on March 9.

PostNet plans to add 200 franchise locations to its network over the next five years, a move that would propel the company”™s footprint to nearly 900 locations across 10 countries.

The company plans to open 10 locations across Connecticut, including in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, Norwalk and Stamford.

Brian Spindel, president and co-founder of PostNet, said he expects the company will open at least five of the planned Connecticut locations in the next three years ”” opening a PostNet in each of the specified target markets.

The company currently operates hundreds of stores in 38 states in addition to nearly 400 locations overseas, including  South Africa, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Colombia,  Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama and  Venezuela.

Spindel said the company picked Stamford as its vanguard store for Connecticut based on the experience and expertise of the new franchise owner, Frank Scaturchio of Stamford, a printing professional with more than 20 years of experience in the business.

“We like a franchisee with roots in the area that has existing relationships and are part of the community,” said Spindel. “Successful franchising is as simple as putting the right people in the right place and we feel this is the right person in the right place.”
