Friendly Auto Group acquires Middletown dealership

Eric Kahn, managing partner and president of Friendly Auto Group.

Eric Kahn, president of the Poughkeepsie-based Friendly Auto Group that operates two other dealerships in the mid-Hudson Valley, said Tuesday his group has acquired Feder’s Acura in Middletown, marking its first Orange County location.

With the latest acquisition, Kahn projects a run rate of $250 million in sales and more than 6,000 new and used cars sold annually. He said he expects to renovate the Middletown dealership at 3475 Route 6 and retain its employees while also hiring additional staff.

Financial terms of the sale were not available.

Kahn is the managing partner and owner of five dealerships from Albany to Middletown. His company operates Poughkeepsie dealerships Friendly Honda and Friendly Ford, which Kahn acquired in 2007 and 2012, respectively. The Ford dealership recently underwent an extensive renovation.

A Westchester resident, Kahn said he hopes to expand his dealership group south into the lower Hudson Valley.

“I hope to bring the Friendly franchise into Westchester one day,” he said. “I’d be thrilled to have something so close to home.”
