CI invests in four Fairfield County startups

Connecticut Innovations (CI) announced Jan. 28 a total of $650,000 pre-seed investments in four Fairfield County startups.

“These new investments reflect the strong startup activity taking place in Fairfield County,” said Claire Leonardi, CI CEO, in a press release. “We are excited to support these promising ventures and look forward to seeing an even stronger pipeline of startups in the area as Connecticut”™s new Stamford-based business accelerator, which is part of the state”™s Innovation Ecosystem, gets underway.”

CI is the state’s quasi-public business funding entity, designed to help entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses in the state.

The following companies will each receive $150,000 or more in the round of funding:

  • eBrevia, based in Stamford, a natural language processing technology company
  • Norwalk-based MedAdherence L.L.C., a automated health care communication company
  • MediaCrossing Inc., a digital media trading and advertising company in Stamford
  • Shelton-based NXT-ID Inc., a security application company, currently building an electric wallet
