Chamber enlists 27 eateries for Restaurant Week

The Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce has produced a venue menu featuring 27 dining establishments ”“ all offering prix fixe meals ”“ for its extended Restaurant Week, which runs Oct.4 to Oct. 18.

Venues from Westport, Saugatuck and Southport will participate. Augmenting the offerings will be two specialty cocktail bars and a craft dessert locale.

“Our restaurants have embraced this event whole-heartedly, making it very robust; people will need the two weeks,”Â chamber Executive Director Matthew Mandell said. “We want people to eat local and with flexible pricing; it will allow both the moderate family style and high-end establishments to find their price point and patrons eager to try their bistro.”

Instead of a single price for all places, each one has set its own prix fixe ranging from $15 to $25 for lunch and from $25 to $35 for dinner.

Brunch for $15 and up being is offered by some venues.

“Restaurant Week is a very important event for us,” Marc Murphy, manager of The Spotted Horse, said. “Not only is it a great marketing tool to introduce new customers to our restaurant, it can be seen as a reward to those customers that enjoy dining here on a regular basis. I only see it as a ‘win-win’ for both sides of the menu.”

The two specialty cocktails bars and craft dessert locale add “a little spice” to the event, Mandell said, “giving people an opportunity to have a before-dinner Martini or a night cap, or that bite to satiate that sweet tooth. It allows residents an expanded experience that makes it that much more fun and vibrant.”

Maria Funicello, co-owner of Tuttis in Saugatuck, said, “When you come to Tuttis, you dine at my house, come, have a meal with my family.”

Sponsors include Castlekeep Advisors, WEBE 108 and WICC 600. For a full list of participating restaurants, the chamber website is: westportwestonchamber.com.
