Passur to aid FAA, TSA
Passur Aerospace Inc. landed a $2.9 million contract with the Federal Aviation Administration for a one-year pilot program, providing access to air traffic control and aviation security systems in support of the FAA”™s joint role with the Transportation Security Administration.
Greenwich-based Passur operates a passive radar system that deduces aircraft positions near airports by tracking the reflection of commercial broadcast signals off their fuselages. The company operates 140 passive radar systems in all, including at Bradley International Airport outside Hartford and Westchester County Airport in New York.
Passur lost just under $100,000 in the second quarter as sales rose 3 percent to $2.4 million. In the past six months, the company has shipped 18 passive radar systems for installation at additional airports.
