Stamford man arrested for 2020 bank robberies in Fairfield County

A Stamford man was arrested on Friday on a federal criminal complaint charging him with robbing three Fairfield County banks in October 2020.

Franceso Pensiero, also known as Frank Pensiero, was charged with robbing the Chase Bank at 2855 Main St in Stratford and the People”™s United Bank at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff in Fairfield on Oct. 13, 2020, and the People”™s United Bank at 95 Main St. in New Canaan on Oct. 28, 2020. Pensiero worked with an associate in the Stratford and New Canaan robberies and absconded with a total of $15,588.

The charge of bank robbery carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years. The investigation into Pensiero”™s alleged crimes is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Stratford, Fairfield and New Canaan Police Departments.
