Former real estate attorney pleads guilty to stealing $2 million
Kevin Hymes, a 40-year-old North Castle resident and former real estate attorney, plead guilty to seven felony larceny counts related to the theft of $2 million, the Westchester County district attorney”™s office announced Jan. 30.
Hymes, who practiced in White Plains, plead guilty to two counts of grand larceny in the second degree, class C felonies, two counts of grand larceny in the third degree, class D felonies, and one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree, a class E felony.
Hymes faces a maximum of 15 years in prison. He was previously convicted in federal court of conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud charges in connection with a $58 million mortgage fraud scheme.
Over five and a half years, Hymes defrauded several individuals and entities by making false representations in connection with real estate closings and stealing deposits from prospective homebuyers.
