Danbury police arrest Florida man running unlicensed dental practice in a hotel room

Finding a Connecticut dentist on a Sunday can be a challenge, but Florida resident Hugo Moraes-DeLima”™s solution to that dilemma has landed him in jail.

On Sunday, April 16, the Danbury Police Department responded to reports that an occupant at the La Quinta Hotel at 116 Newtown Road was using his room as a dental office. When officers arrived at Moraes-DeLima”™s room, they an impromptu dental office complete with drills, suction machines, a portable X-ray machine and numerous bottles of amoxicillin and other medications.

While interviewing Moraes-DeLima, another man emerged from the bathroom with gauze in his mouth ”“ he stated that Moraes-DeLima had just performed a dental procedure on him.

The police arrested Moraes-DeLima and charged him with practicing dentistry without a license and illegal sale of prescription drugs. He is being held on a $350,000 bond.
