$186,731 judgement against Newtown therapist for Medicaid fraud

Connecticut state attorney general William Tong announced on August 1 the securing of a civil judgement of $186,731 against Jeannie V. Pasacreta, a registered nurse in Newtown for Medicaid fraud.

The judgement found Pasacreta engaged in “a pervasive illegal scheme to bill the Connecticut Medicaid program for psychotherapy and medical services she never provided.”

Between 2013 and 2018 she allegedly operated Integrated Mental Health Services, LLC, a Newtown based provider of psychotherapy and medication administration which from at least 2016 billed state Medicaid at the highest possible rates for services that she never provided.

According to the findings of the Medicare Fraud Control Unit of the State’s Attorney General Office these fraudulent billings were intentional and defrauded the state of tens of thousands of dollars.

“This case involved fabrication of hundreds of false claims, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in payments for services never provided. This civil judgment follows a related guilty plea, both of which will result in significant restitution for the Connecticut Medicaid program,” said Attorney General Tong.
