Report: Bass Pro Shops angles for Steel Point

Outdoors outfitter Bass Pro Shops reportedly plans to open its first Connecticut location in Bridgeport”™s long-stalled Steel Point development.

The store could employ as many as 300 people, according to the Connecticut Post, and could support 150 temporary construction jobs. The company is eyeing an opening date toward the end of 2013.

Springfield, Mo.-based Bass Pro Shops has one store in New England, in Foxboro, Mass.
