Piller USA breaks ground for new Wallkill facility
Piller USA Inc., a maker of uninterruptible power supply systems, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for the company”™s new 24,000-square-foot light industrial and headquarters building on Wes Warren Drive in the town of Wallkill.
Piller USA has 40 employees in its existing Middletown headquarters at 45 Turner Drive and a total workforce of 77 employees, according to the Orange County Partnership, the nonprofit economic development group that announced the construction project. Partnership officials said the project will generate $2.8 million in capital investment and create about 84 construction jobs.
The developer of the two-story headquarters and light manufacturing and assembly plant, Retford Investments LLC, in February was approved for approximately $172,000 in sales and use tax exemptions for the project and a property tax abatement of $792,000 by the Orange County Industrial Development Agency.
Based in Germany, the Piller Group GmbH has more than 800 employees worldwide and operates in more than 50 countries. The power systems manufacturer is a wholly owned subsidiary of a United Kingdom engineering group, Langley Holdings plc.
Partnership officials said Piller Inc. entered Orange County in 1995 when it purchased KW Control Systems Inc. in the town of Wawayanda and relocated to its Middletown address in the town of Wallkill in 2004. The company”™s name was changed to Piller USA Inc. in 2009.
“Orange County is privileged that Piller USA Inc. chose to remain in the county when other options existed,” said Maureen Halahan, president and CEO of the Orange County Partnership. “We applaud Dean Richards, Piller”™s president and CEO, for his commitment to his employees, the town of Wallkill and Orange County.”
The groundbreaking ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the 45 Wes Warren Drive construction site.
