Norwalk Redevelopment Agency to receive $9.8 million from CIF

The Connecticut Community Investment Fund (CIF) administered by the state Department of Economic and Community Development has awarded the Norwalk Redevelopment agency two grants as part of its CIF 2030 program, according to the agenda for the CIF’s March 12 meeting.

$8,000,000 has been earmarked for the red-development of 55 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, a parking lot in South Norwalk adjacent to a C-Town Grocery Store and the AMC SoNo 8 movie theater. Plans for the site, which is also referred to as the Webster Lot, could see the construction of as many as 500 units. In 2022 the site also garnered $2 million in state funding for remediation of the nearly 5 acre site.

Another $1,800,000 is slated for work at the Oak Grove Apartments and Learning Center. The Oak Grove Apartments are an affordable housing project adjacent to the existing Colonial Village complex. The 69 unit Oak Grove facility is already under construction, and has funding from other sources.
