Manufacturing consortium to highlight workplace safety strategies

To help local employers keep their employees healthy and their businesses operating safely, members from the Connecticut Department of Labor”™s Division of Occupational Safety and Health will provide an overview of the free services and safety programs available to employers during the Southwest Connecticut Manufacturing Consortium meeting this week.

The Department of Labor says that safety and health management programs can play an important role for business owners and managers by helping to reduce loss of property and operating expenses, prevent injuries and disruptions, and improve labor relations ”“ not mention reducing the risk of costly OSHA penalties.

Employers attending the consortium on Jan. 20 will receive information from Kenneth Tucker, Connecticut OSHA director and John Rosa, program manager for OSHA”™s Private Sector Consultation Services.

The overview will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Room C232 in Lafayette Hall at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport.

Free parking is available in the college’s parking garage on Lafayette Blvd.

Admission is also free, but pre-registration is requested. Please contact Lori-lynn Chatlos at lorilynn.chatlos@ct.gov to register for the event or for additional information.
