In White Plains, Cappelli eyes another ‘glass A’ project

In the future, people who live in high-rise glass houses in downtown White Plains could find a matching edifice in glass and designing class a stone”™s throw away. If it looks familiar, that”™s because the same developer who built their tower condos in The Residences at the Ritz Carlton would build what he calls “a jewel of the downtown.”
Louis R. Cappelli, president of Cappelli Enterprises in Valhalla, recently unveiled plans for a three-story building at the corner of Court and Main streets, opposite the two 44-story glass towers and Ritz-Carlton hotel under construction. The developer recently demolished a fire-damaged three-story building at 189 Main St. to prepare the 5,200-square-foot site for a construction project not yet approved by city officials.
Designed by Mark Shulman of Design Development, White Plains, the building would be comprised of diamond-shaped glass panels and house a cellar restaurant, first-floor multimedia gallery with glass floor and rooftop dining area.
The developer has applied to the city to add the project to the Ritz- Carlton development site. At press time, the White Plains Common Council was expected to schedule an Aug. 6 public hearing on the proposal.
