PB plant put on block

Pitney Bowes Inc.”™s Newtown plant is being put up for sale, as Pitney Bowes consolidates its northern Fairfield County operations in Danbury where it is creating a global technology center.

Building owner Pately Associates hired Cushman & Wakefield to handle leasing and sale transactions for the 155,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 7 Edmond Road. The facility has access to Exit 10 off Interstate 84, and is on 18 acres.

Pately is asking $5.9 million for the plant, or just over $38 a square foot.

Greenfield plans LA hotel

Greenfield Partners reportedly plans to create a hotel from a onetime Los Angeles theater it bought last October, with the venue tracing its heritage to the era of silent films.

Norwalk-based Greenfield reportedly paid $11 million for the former United Artists building, according to the Los Angeles Times, with Oregon-based Ace Hotel to operate the planned 180-room hotel when it opens, which will also include a 1,600-seat theater.

“This partnership marks the first of what we hope are many projects with Ace Hotel,” said Greenfield CEO Gene Gorab, as quoted by the L.A. Times.

 

Energy star for MerrittView

Malkin Properties won the Energy Star label a second year running for MerrittView, a 225,000-square-foot office building in Norwalk.

According to the most recent data on file with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 17 office buildings in Norwalk carry the Energy Star designation totaling 3.5 million square feet, several of them in the Merritt 7 Corporate Park.
