FedEx plans $121M distribution center in Yonkers

A $121.2 million regional FedEx distribution center is planned in Yonkers on a vacant motel site on Tuckahoe Road.

The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency at its July 23 meeting approved financial incentives for construction of the 123,000-square-foot facility that will be built on the site of the former Tuckahoe Motor Inn. FedEx Corp. will receive up to $2.33 million in sales tax exemptions on construction materials and a temporary property tax abatement, Yonkers officials said.

The facility, expected to create 43 new jobs and 38 full- and part-time jobs, will be relocated from the existing FedEx distribution center in the Bronx.

Mayor Mike Spano, chairman of the Yonkers IDA board, in the IDA announcement said FedEx”™s interest in Yonkers shows that the city”™s effort to promote its proximity to transportation, New York City and the Hudson Valley is paying off.

“We are the link between New York City and the entire Hudson Valley,” he said. “Companies are realizing we have available property, the right location, and a highly qualified workforce.”
