Contractor charged as wages cheat
A Katonah construction contractor faces multiple felony charges for allegedly covering up his underpayments to workers on a 2006 construction project.
State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo said Krzysztof “Chris” Przybyl failed to pay about $100,000 in legally required wages to at least six carpenters. Przybl”™s company, Bedell Contacting Corp., was subcontractor on the construction of the Village of Ardsley firehouse when the alleged offenses occurred.
The attorney general alleged Przybyl paid his workers less than half the amount of the prevailing wage he was legally required to pay and pocketed the rest. The Bedell company also is accused of submitting false certified weekly payroll reports, signed by Przybl, to the village.
Przybyl and his company are each charged with seven counts of first-degree falsifying business documents and seven counts of offering a false instrument for filing. Przybyl faces up to four years in prison for each violation.
