Construction underway on Popeyes in Danbury

Construction has begun on fast-food chain Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Danbury, at the same site on Newtown Road where Texas Roadhouse and American Family Care Urgent Care/Aspen Dental are about to open.

Popeyes, which also has an outlet in Trumbull, is owned by Canadian firm Restaurant Brands International Inc., which also operates the Burger King and Tim Hortons chains. RBI reports more than $27 billion in systemwide sales at over 23,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories.

The fried chicken and seafood chain is expected to open in Danbury in late summer or early fall. Texas Roadhouse is due to open next month, as is AFC Urgent Care.

Other recently opened eateries nearby include Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub in the Holiday Inn at 80 Newtown Road and Mexican restaurant Puerto Vallarta at 98 Newtown Road.
