Murphy elected new BRI president

Michael Murphy of Murphy Brothers Contracting has been elected as the 2025 president of the Armonk-based Building and Realty Institute (BRI). He succeeds Lisa DeRosa of DeRosa Builders.

Stacey Tompkins of Tompkins Excavating will serve as secretary, and Christine McCabe has been re-elected to continue her role as treasurer.

Michael Murphy has been director of new project development at Murphy Brothers Contracting for about 17 years. He has been on the BRI’s Board of Trustees and previously led the organization’s Remodelers Advisory Council. In 2023, he was elected secretary of BRI.

“Murphy Brothers Contracting joined the BRI for the networking, education and advocacy it provides to our industry,” Murphy said. “I am honored to be elected as BRI president, as we build upon the foundation established and maintained by Lisa DeRosa and other past presidents and BRI Board members.”

Founded in 1946 as The Home Builders Association of Westchester the organization changed its name to The Builders Institute Of Westchester and Putnam Counties, Inc., in 1959. BRI now has about 1,500 members. This year BRI founded The Hudson Valley Women in Construction Group, designed for women in the homebuilding, remodeling, construction, and contracting sectors.
