LASIK eye surgery center coming to Westchester

A branch of a vision chain specializing in LASIK eye surgery is opening a location in New Rochelle. Dello Russo Laser Vision, which was founded by the late Dr. Joseph Dello Russo and now is led by his two sons has signed a lease for 3,000 square feet of space at Simone Development Companies’ shopping complex at 71 Nardozzi Place. Dello Russo Laser Vision has existing locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Hyde Park on Long Island, Woodbridge and Bergenfield in New Jersey and Westport in Connecticut.

In 1980, the late Joseph Dello Russo obtained a laser for research on its possible use in vision correction. His pioneering efforts were instrumental in developing techniques for using lasers to reshape the eye’s cornea and provide vision correction. The technique, LASIK, received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1996. The company noted that many of the LASIK procedures and safety guidelines in place now are the direct result of Dello Russo’s early research.

“We have some of the most experienced and dedicated LASIK surgeons in the Northeast along with a unique position in the market as one of most respected and well-known practices in the tri-state region and the largest family-owned practice in the country,” said the late Dr. Russo’s son Jeffrey, CEO of Dello Russo Laser Vision. “We now look forward to providing outstanding LASIK care to patients in Westchester County in this wonderful new space.”

Joanna Simone, president of leasing and property management operations at Simone Development Companies said, “We are delighted to welcome Dello Russo Laser Vision to their very first Westchester location. Our property’s convenient location just off I-95 with abundant parking and a mix of service-oriented and experiential retail make this an ideal home for medical tenants.”

Katelin Van Voorhis and David Scotto of RM Friedland represented ownership in the lease negotiations, while Dello Russo Laser Vision was represented by Marshall Wade of Conquest Advisors.
