Giuliani disbarred in New York

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who at one time was revered as “America’s Mayor” after the 911 World Trade Center attack, has been disbarred, his law license revoked in New York. An appeals court ruling that was released this morning said that Giuliani “is disbarred from the practice of law effective immediately.” The court said that until the further order of the court his name shall be stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in New York state. The decision was made by the Appellate Division, First Department.

Giuliani is facing two criminal indictments in connection with his support of Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election . His law license to practice in Washington, D.C., has been suspended. His license to practice law in New York previously had been suspended. Before becoming New York City mayor, Giuliani had made a name for himself as a tough federal prosecutor who went after white collar criminals as well as underworld elements.
