The Connecticut Retail Network selected Stamford-based vineyard vines as the 2024 Retailer of the Year, recognizing the company’s outstanding customer service and its commitment to community engagement as well as contributions to the state’s retail sector.

“Vineyard vines exemplifies the spirit of innovation and customer-focused service that drives Connecticut’s retail sector,” said Tim Phelan, President of the Connecticut Retail Network. “Their consistent commitment to quality products and customer service has set a high standard in the industry.”

Founded in 1998 by Connecticut natives and brothers Shep and Ian Murray, vineyard vines has grown from a start-up company where the brothers sold custom ties out of the back of their Jeep to a nationally recognized and popular lifestyle brand that employs more than 1,500 workers and had revenue over $490 million in 2023, according to Zippia.com. In addition to their signature neckwear, the company offers a variety of clothing and accessories for men, women and children. It is located at 181 Harbor Drive in Stamford.

The award will be presented at the Connecticut Retail Network’s BIG Event, an annual gathering of retail business leaders from across the state, scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford.

Shep Murray, CEO and co-founder of Vineyard Vines, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“We are truly honored to receive this award from the Connecticut Retail Network,” he said. “It stands as a testament to the dedication of our incredible team and the unwavering support of our loyal customers.”

Ian Murray, fellow CEO and co-founder, added: “This award is not just a reflection of our work, but a celebration of everyone who has been part of our journey. We remain committed to building a lifestyle brand that brings ‘Every Day Should Feel This Good’ moments into people’s lives.”

The company’s iconic whale logo has become a symbol of preppy, lifestyle-inspired products for men, women and kids of all ages. Beyond its retail success, vineyard vines has shown a deep commitment to community support, partnering with numerous charitable organizations and initiatives.

This dedication has solidified its reputation as a leading corporate citizen in Connecticut, according to the Connecticut Retail Network.

“The retail landscape continues to evolve, presenting both challenges and opportunities for businesses,” Phelan said. “Vineyard vines has consistently demonstrated adaptability and innovation, making them an excellent choice for this year’s award.”
