Connecticut Bar Association announces new leadership

In a July 8 press release the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) announced the latest slate of officers for the organization, including  several with Fairfield County ties. In operation since 1875, the CBA is the state’s preeminent organization for lawyers and legal professionals. With more than 70 internal bodies and 300 educational programs each year, the CBA figures prominently in legal work throughout Connecticut.

The officers began serving on July 1 of this year, and will hold office until June 30 2025.

James. T. Shearin is now the hundred and first president of the CBA, and served as chairman of Pullman & Comley, LLP, a practice with multiple specialties and offices in Bridgeport, Hartford, Springfield, Wakefield, Westport, and White Plains.

The president-elect is Emily A. Gianquinto, a special counsel focused on business litigation at New Jersey-based McCarter & English LLP with Stamford offices.

  1. Paul Vance Jr. took office as vice president. He is a partner at Torrington’s Logan Vance Sullivan & Kores LLP.

Sharad A. Samy once again serves as treasurer for the CBA. He is both the general counsel of the Common Fund for Nonprofit Organizations, and a solo practitioner at The Law Offices of Sharad A. Samy LLC in Darien.

The new CBA secretary is David M Moore, a solo practitioner from Avon.

Sara J. O’Brien has assumed office as assistant secretary-treasurer. She is an associate at Standfield Bechtel Law PLLC in Middletown.

Attorney Castinado, as the immediate past president, also has official duties. She is a senior assistant public defender at the Office of the Public Defender in New Haven.
