Aquarion president announces retirement

Aquarion Water President Donald J. Morissey announced on July 26 that he will retire from his position at the end of the year. Effective December 31 he will end his five years in the role, with current Vice President of Customer & Administrative Services Lucy Teixeira taking up the role effective January 1.

“It has been an honor to work with and learn from an incredibly dedicated group of employees,” said Morrissey. “Together, we have provided our customers with a quality product while achieving Aquarion’s mission to be the service provider and employer of choice with a strong commitment to the communities we serve. Aquarion, its customers and employees will be in great hands with Lucy Teixeira at the helm, who is uniquely qualified to build on our strong track record of success.”

“Don’s commitment to excellence and leadership have delivered a consistent track record of strong performance for customers,” said Eversource Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer Joe Nolan. “His customer-focused strategies have delivered results for the communities that Aquarion serves and have strongly positioned the company for future success.”

“It is the highlight of my career and a great honor to be entrusted with the leadership of Aquarion Water Company, whose outstanding management team and dedicated employees are committed to delivering high-quality water and service to our customers,” said Trumbull resident Teixeira. “I look forward to continuing to promote our company as a strong steward of the environment and developing strong working relationships with our customers, employees and other key stakeholders while engaging with our communities.”

The impact of this change in leadership to the proposed sale of Aquarion Water to the Regional Water Authority is unclear.
