$7.9 Million federal grant for Connecticut housing

On Monday September 2 the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) announced that it had received a $7.9 million grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which will be used to build 158 new affordable housing units and expand services for disabled adults and citizens with low income.

The grant is part of a larger series released by the Whit House directing $140 million in investment across 18 states.

“On behalf of our constituents, which are CT residents and families, DOH is grateful to receive this grant right now,” said Connecticut Commissioner of Housing Seila Mosquera-Bruno. “As we look to refine our services and programs for the housing insecure, it’s critical to have continued support from our federal partners in order to provide long-term, sustainable housing solutions for those individuals that need and deserve it the most.”

“Under the Biden-Harris Administration, we are committed to removing barriers to housing and ensuring that everyone has access to an accessible, quality, and affordable home that meets their needs,” said HUD Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman. “Today’s awards will support Americans with disabilities by both creating affordable housing and expanding crucial support services.”
